Shakespeare Works When Shakespeare Plays

Shakespeare Works When Shakespeare Plays (SWWSP) is a professional development conference for educators, designed to provide teachers with active approaches for teaching Shakespeare through applicable connections to current curricular standards.

This conference has been hosted by the Mondavi Center, the UC Davis School of Education, Globe Education, and the Shakespeare Theatre Association since 2012. The goals and structure of the conference build upon the successful Globe Education Academy and support learning aligned with the Visual and Performing Arts and English Language Arts Standards.

The conference fosters camaraderie between STA presenters and provides a resource for STA member theatre education and teaching artists. Given the success of this conference for both participating teachers and STA presenters, SWWSP seeks to expand the conference to more locations in order to serve a wider audience and welcomes applicants from STA theaters.
