Shakespeare in Yosemite
Mission
Shakespeare in Yosemite presents free performances of a Shakespearean play in Yosemite National Park each April the weekend closest to Earth Day and Shakespeare's Birthday. Productions are adapted to be accessible, musical, and fun, and to highlight ecological themes and the role that the arts can play in environmental advocacy. In 2018, over 1000 people saw our production of A Midsummer Night's Dream featuring Lisa Wolpe, Devon Glover AKA Sonnet Man, and a cast of community and student actors. Shakespeare in Yosemite was co-founded in 2016 by Katherine Steele Brokaw and Paul Prescott, and is co-sponsored by University of California-Merced, University of Warwick, and the National Park Service.
